p.s. thumper, i love the gallows cootie! more vintage halloween kitties.. i miss halloween back in southern california.. we had such a scary setup for the trick-or-treaters!! i've had the privelege of being able to enjoy making so many people scream and run from me.. up here it's too cold and there's such a small turnout it's not worth all the effort.. for anyone who missed it before, here's a video short from one of our halloweens.. sorry it's kinda dark.. (that's me - the masque of the red death..) video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1525847386658840719there's a bunch of others i have up there too like my halloween reading of ulalume if you click on 'more from user'.. ghost

I thought it was this, but I intently watched for the apparition anyway! Im exactly the same, Even if I wait for it it still catches me out! Ghost thats an excellent Halloween set up, around here there are kids/teenagers who throw eggs at people/property or threaten you on your own door step to give them money! I always turn the lights of and pretend im not in if im on my own. the genuine kids that do go out (seriously small number) only stick to houses they know nowadays which is such a shame things have gone this way. Not much fun for anyone here.

that's too bad, mia! we used to set up our frontyard as a cemetery full of graves, and someone stole the body parts we put out by the tombstones (a head and arm!) and a plastic knife right out of our killer clown's mouth! one time a whole bunch of teenagers rushed us and took all the candy from the bowl! but for the most part, like with so many other things, the nice kids outweighed the nasty ones.. ghost

halloween time is the best time for scary movies.. we should have a movie night! (or suggest movies to scare each other?) if you like good ghost stories.. hehe.. i recommend 'the abandoned'.. it made the '8 great movies to die for' list a couple years back.. it's very good.. it's about a woman who goes to claim her family's abandoned estate in a remote russian forest.. usually ghost movies are not very convincing.. but i actually bought this one it was so good.. well, hubby has a 4 day weekend for labor day so i might be gone.. we're planning a roadtrip.. maybe i can get some good pix.. take care, ghost

thanks, mandy.. hope you have a good time.. we did! (i put pix up in the 'columbia river gorge' thread/art/pix) we happened to notice the halloween spirit store grand opening and actually did some halloween shopping already.. haha.. i had to get some large glow-in-the-dark skeletons and some hanging decorations that look like skeletons hanging in a dungeon & gallows.. (after halloween they go into my closet where it's halloween year 'round..) we also went out antique/collectible hunting.. i found this great little assortment of vintage gurly/silvestry halloween candles with a fantastic vintage halloween party invite.. it had a little ghost, a witch w/ a black cat, & several jack-o-lanterns.. but it's a little pricey.. we may go back next weekend and get it (after payday!) .. it really wasn't a bad price as i know vintage halloween stuff is soo expensive here.. i hope no one else picks it up before me! when we got home today our kitties all had their big eyes in because a kit (young raccoon) had fallen asleep right up on our skylight in our diningroom.. i actually thought he was dead because his tongue was sticking out, but he was just zonked out.. hehehe.. ghost

thumper, all 3 of those movies sit here on my shelf.. but i'll have to look around for that last one.. strange i've missed it..? well venturing out into the germpool proved too much for such a shut-in, despite my ocd style of opening doors with tissues i got infected.. now i'm stuck home sick with some virus.. ghost

thanks.. i'm just hoping my guys don't get it.. i've already had my dose of chocolate this a.m.! the lady killers? gotta look for that one, too.. but i watch the TCM channel (classic movies) constantly.. so i'm sure they'll run it.. i've noticed it's gotten so hard to find good old movies/dvds to rent! all they have are millions of contemporary clunkers.. my favorite is 'arsenic & old lace' with cary grant.. i bought a dvd off amazon for the movie 'kafka' w/ jeremy irons & ian holm.. one i'd looked for forever.. turned out they sent me the wrong region code! it's uk only.. my hubby had to use some program to rip it off onto a disc that i can only watch on my laptop.. .. but it is a great movie! ghost

hi guys.. sorry i'm not around.. sick sick sick.. hey pete, i haven't listened to it all yet, but i remember elvira mentioned in the dr demento 1984 show i linked up a page or 2 back? i've had to deal with rage as well.. try to remember there's nothing wrong with feeling what we feel, the only 'wrong' can come with making poor choices as to what to do with the feelings obviously.. i have to get creative with my rage all the time to channel it into a safe place.. take care, halloween's comin' ghost

today is world suicide prevention day.. there are several good articles in the latest psychcentral news i posted up.. 'callalily' has been fairly wimpy, thank goodness.. she's here every morning but responds to tylenol & leaves.. i'd give her a mere 2 on my scale of 1-10 (has a beat but i can't dance to her.. ) young'ns won't get that joke.. lol still sick.. how many days till halloween? i haven't counted it up.. ghost
