today we took our first summer hike.. back to the gorge.. this time to check out the old tunnels that model Ts used to use on the old historic hiway there.. they were closed down for years and years but have been reopened to bikes/hikers..
the columbia river..
such a pretty day in the gorge..
these were carved right out of the mountain in the 1910's..
it's neat because the gorge winds funnel through the tunnels!
such beautiful wildflowers everywhere..
saw this giant mutant dandelion!
but i couldn't blow the seeds off.. no wish for me!!
this weekend we decided to find elowah falls.. it's a little hidden.. past places like 'angel's rest' & 'heaven' haha.. past all the major falls that are packed full of tourists right now.. we had to hike a little to get there, but it was well worth it and we had it all to ourselves..
Looks lovely, I love places where you can enjoy natures natural beauty in peace Those raccoons are so adorable!! my cats would be very curious but from a distance, they are more likely to run from things they are unsure of

mandy, oh that makes sense 'cause splitzville was for that movie, too, huh? i am still waiting to find/see that one.. i keep checking the used dvds for sale but have never seen it.. so the character came before the song?
i'll tell you, though, the story that elliott climbed mt hood with his dad at age 14 is really pretty impressive! there's snow up there even through summer.. like yesterday there were still snowboarders and the lifts were running.. and we hear news of climbers lost on the mountain as a regular thing on the local news.. many die there.. so that was quite an accomplishment for his age for sure..
a ghost.. a real ghost.. has no need to die.. what is he except a being without access to the universe that he has not yet managed to forget?
