hubby & i took a drive today south of salem looking for old covered bridges.. (oregon has most covered bridges of any west coast state..) most of these were built in the 30's.. but around 10 years ago a special fund reconditioned/repaired/painted them all.. we drove through 7 today.. here are pix of a few of them.. we'll save the others for another day.. shimanek bridge.. larwood bridge.. hoffman bridge.. inside.. jordon bridge.. another shot.. another.. me sporting my new elliott smith t-shirt & pendant! we saw so many critters today it was ridiculous, including multiple vultures, peacocks, a turkey, hens & roosters, a peregrin falcon, and all the usual horses, shetland pony, llamas, mules, cows, a black sheep, goats, a dead skunk and a giant nutria!! (rat/beaver!) etc... ghost

or drive off a covered bridge, fall 15 feet protected by an automobile and both people in the car die! Go figure. Thats right I remember thinking that was a bit exaggerated and thumper I love sleepy hollow as well, I havent seen it for a few years though (shame on me) I think I remember the part youre talking about, its when they are both on there horses at each end of the bridge when they are about to fight I think?

wasn't the headless horseman on top of the bridge when the guy came out the end? i should remember.. when that movie came out i collected everything related to it.. (i am a toy collector afterall.. haha) i have an entire 'sleepy hollow' shelf with ichabod crane, the crone, the hessian on daredevil, the tree of the dead, etc.. the luckiest trading card snag i ever made was getting the holographic hessian card!! worth a bundle.. i love that movie.. ('specially chris walken! with those teeth!!) ghost

yeah, i'm sure vermont has us beat with number of covered bridges! i love 'em.. especially the grey's river bridge.. it's shot full of bulletholes on one side and when you go through the light shines inside in all weird directions like a magic lantern.. the larwood bridge was on 'ripley's believe it or not' because the roaring river empties into crabtree creek there.. it's an oddity because normally creeks empty into rivers, not the other way around.. it only occurs there.. such a pretty place too.. the fluffy white cottonseed blossoms are blowing in the wind here and piled up along the side of the road like snow! ghost
