NOTE:
sorry i meant to put 'a mixture of the above 4' up there not 3..
it won't allow me to modify it?
lately i've been reading about attachment..
insecure attachment or attachment disorder vs. borderline personality disorder, for example, because i've heard many use these terms interchangeably..
although i have some of the criterion for bpd, i do not have the classic chaotic/emotionally reactive lifestyle or the impulse problems so i don't fit really at all..
i think people with s.i. issues often are tossed right into this diagnosis incorrectly..
also it seems borderline personality often is considered to be closely related to bipolar disorder.. both with abbreviations BPD.. just to make it more confusing?
not many really fit the classic DSM diagnosis for RAD and many of what we hear are well known symptoms of Rad kids are really not rad but 'comorbid disorders' (coexisting)..
'attachment disorder' itself is really a catchall for many different types on the insecurely attached spectrum. i seem to be fearful/avoidant, for example, but have plenty of preoccupation and times i'm dismissive?
i'm very confused by it all..
please feel free to use this poll & thread to help sort it out with your experiences.. i tend to agree with what john bradshaw says about some of these really generally just being 'more extreme' conditions of the same legacy of abuse/neglect/dysfunction in the family..
there is also a campaign to change the name of borderline to alleviate the stigma attached..
