here i am with my baby sabrina felina.. i like to dance with her, but she has to be in the mood.. she smells like buttered popcorn.. i love her!
i carried this link to gumbyland over from the old board in case there's anyone left who hasn't visited! as a toy collector i have a special fondness for gumby.. my earliest memory is in fact of gumby.. so i've collected gumbystuff for decades.. you can visit my collection at gumbyland or go to my secret art gallery.. i am someone who has tried to use art/expressionism as a creative outlet for feelings that could otherwise be self-destructive.. i have dealt with issues of self-injury for most of my life and have found painting/writing to be a good alternative much of the time.. so there is that theme in my artwork.. there is a link between s.i. and ad that goes back to harlow's experiments on rhesus monkeys and separation from their mothers at birth.. they resorted to self-injury behavior in an effort to self-soothe the same way humans do as nature's 'last ditch' way..
here's a little link to one of the detail pages from the gallery to give you an idea.. long before i ever heard of ad i knew at some organic level that i was like those little monkeys i used in my collages..
i just wanted to mention.. i received such a nice email from someone recently about my gallery.. she's putting together a website to feature artists whose lives have been impacted by adoption? looking at my artwork she was convinced that i had been adopted (i'm not) but i explained to her the commonalities and about this board and how i started it originally for fellow adults dealing with early insecure attachment issues..
anyway, i gave her the forum link for the site.. once it's up it could bring over some more AD people? i think so many of our issues overlap.. adoptees or not.. also anyone who comes across anyone they think could use our support board please feel free to invite them over.. i've found it hard to get our link out there to be found!
haha.. thanks! yeah.. we just got the new 'best of radiohead' dvd and watched that video (creep).. i still love that line! i've always loved the 'street spirit' video best but their video for 'there there' is great!
hey pete.. yeah my avg anti virus software says that everytime i go to gumbyland too but there's nothing unsafe there at all.. it's just some over- precaution in the software that looks for certain filetypes i suppose..
a ghost.. a real ghost.. has no need to die.. what is he except a being without access to the universe that he has not yet managed to forget?
