oh my god..
mandy.. i only got halfway through that before i had to comment about how obviously condescending and rude this author is.. obviously this person is bringing some kind of personal bias or judgment into what should be an objective/somewhat scientific observation.. what the hell?!
now i'll go back & read the rest..
wow.. not a book i'd read that is for sure.. what an asshat.
so offensive! as someone else who is dysthimic with periods of major depression i find that just outrageous..
what would this person have said about abraham lincoln? he was at least dysthimic or more all his life..
at first thought i imagined the author to be a sexist male.. then i thought, no maybe it's a very assertive female.. whatever, they have some kind of axe to grind it seems.. "live in smaller houses & have fewer living offspring?" give me a fucking break..
mandy..
i have had mild depression that i remember since about age 8.. it may have started before but that's all i remember.. and it is in contrast to periods of 'major depression' which i was diagnosed with over a 5-6 year period (my main diagnosis).. but i even know of a worse variety of depression which i went through for a year due to a bad stomach drug as i've said before.. real clinically crippling depression there.. there are so many varieties of depression.. anyone who lumps it all into one anything is off base.. it is so complex/multifaceted/individual.. it's also just a byproduct of life.. so hard to untangle it out as merely one disease..
